Complete Tanks Battle Guide — Classes, Destructible Terrain and Wind

One good shell can remove the ground under your opponent. A guide to the three classes, special weapons, blast radius, the 30-second turn and when to fire a railgun instead of a dirt bomb.

Tanks Battle on AsNard is a turn-based artillery duel, not a shoot-em-up: angle, power and weapon choice in one turn matter far more than fast reflexes. The map under your treads is genuinely destructible, so one good shell can remove the ground your opponent is standing on.

This guide covers the three tank classes, the two modes, the fuel and fall rules, and how to compensate for wind.

Three classes, three styles

  • Demolitionist: the heaviest shells and the deepest craters. A heavy standard round, a cluster missile that splits into four, and a last-resort bomb with a huge blast radius. If your opponent likes hiding behind a hill, this class edits the map.
  • Sniper: precision and penetration. A standard round, a wind-immune railgun that arrives at light speed, and an orbital laser strike. On a windy table it is the only class that does not have to fold wind into its maths.
  • Tactician: survival and earthworks. A plasma mortar, a dirt bomb that builds a berm instead of digging a hole, a teleport out of a bad spot and a nano shield to swallow one certain shot.

You pick your class when you join, and the two tanks may pick different ones — so "nano shield versus cluster missile" is part of the pre-match game, not a lucky spawn.

Fuel, movement and falling

Each turn gives you up to 30 units of travel, and fuel is the same number: one unit moved is one unit of fuel spent. Fuel refills to 100 at the start of your next turn, so repositioning is free in the long run but not in the short one — bad placement can eat an entire turn in climbing a slope.

The second law is terrain: if a blast leaves a tank falling more than 42 units, it loses between 4 and 30 health. If the ground disappears completely under it, that is the end. Which is why a low-damage direct hit is sometimes worse than indirect fire onto the rock above your opponent's head.

The two modes

ModeWhat changes
Classic duelGentle wind (up to 5); angle and power decide the duel
Severe StormWind runs at more than double that; last turn's perfect shot now flies wide

In Storm, the sniper's wind-immune railgun is worth several times more. In Classic, the demolitionist is the better map surgeon.

Compensating for wind

  1. Read the wind number before you touch the angle. With a tailwind you usually need a slightly flatter, harder shot.
  2. Change one variable, not two. If the last shot fell short, add power rather than tilting the turret — more power lengthens the arc, a weird angle just moves it sideways.
  3. Spend the early turns mapping the table: craters, one escape route uphill, and which side gives you a clean line. In a turn duel, the information you gather on turn three wins turn ten.

Common mistakes

  • Full power every time: at maximum charge the shell sails past the target and lands in the open ground behind it.
  • Ignoring fine angles: holding Shift moves the turret one degree at a time. At range, that single degree is the difference between a near miss and a direct hit.
  • Burning the special weapon on the wrong turn: every weapon needs a few turns to cool down. Save it for the moment when the opponent is forced to move.

What is different on AsNard

  • Shells, damage and terrain changes are resolved server-side, so there is no result to argue about.
  • Tanks run their own ranked ELO ladder, and the rating is shown right on the result screen.
  • If your connection drops you get 45 seconds to return to the same battle, and the turn is held open meanwhile.
  • In quick match a bot fills an empty seat if no human shows up; ranked tables are always matched against real players.
